With Germany and the UK recently solidifying their defence relationship through the signing of a Joint Declaration, emphasising stronger collaboration in the development and production of military systems, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for Banner Lane. We are thrilled to announce the addition of Paul Kobold de Lima as our new Consultant, spearheading our initiatives across Germany.

Banner Lane’s Director, Stephen Start, expressed his enthusiasm about Paul’s appointment, stating, “Germany is a crucial strategic market for us, naturally complementing our ongoing success in the UK. With Germany’s defence spending projected to surpass $80 billion next year, even outstripping that of the UK, there is a significant push towards modernising military capabilities to adapt to contemporary warfare. This environment will create substantial opportunities for start-ups and SMEs to provide the necessary technologies, driving strong demand for both leadership and technical talent. We excel in addressing these needs, so recruiting seasoned in-country talent was a natural step. Having known Paul for several years, I am confident in his success. He’s smart, driven, and possesses valuable skills enabling him to quickly capture concepts and understand people and perspectives. His experience working for the industrial corporation Wurth Group, combined with his strong linguistic skills, further enhances his credibility. Paul’s nearly a decade of experience in technical recruitment makes him the perfect fit to engage with our international client base across the region.

Commenting on his new role, Paul said, “Stephen has successfully built a reputable business, and I am eager to collaborate with him and the team to extend our services into the German market. I am confident that Banner Lane will achieve success in Germany, and I look forward to tackling the challenges and seizing the opportunities ahead.”

Stephen also highlighted Banner Lane’s future strategic plans, stating, “With our specialised expertise, it is natural for us to expand into NATO markets that are enhancing their military capabilities. We are actively recruiting for a Consultant in North America and have plans to further expand our offerings into the Nordics in the future.”

Paul, a German national, holds a BA in European Studies and an MSc in Conference Interpreting from Heidelberg University. He is based out of Banner Lane’s office in Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
