Germany Orders 1,000 Rheinmetall Trucks

The Bundeswehr has ordered over 1,000 HX-series logistics vehicles from Rheinmetall, worth €770m, for delivery by late 2025.

The purchase, under a framework for up to 6,500 trucks, includes swap-body and transport variants to boost mobility and interoperability with NATO allies.

THEON Acquires Germany’s Kappa Optronics

Greek defence firm THEON has acquired Kappa Optronics, a German maker of electro-optical systems for aviation and land platforms. Founded in 1978, Kappa employs 200 staff across Germany, Spain, and the US, with 2025 revenues forecast above €37m.

The deal boosts THEON’s presence in Germany, following recent investments in Harder Digital, Andres Industries, and a joint venture with Hensoldt.

Thyssenkrupp Shareholders Approve TKMS Spin-Off

Thyssenkrupp AG shareholders have approved the spin-off of a minority stake in thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), paving the way for the shipbuilder’s planned independent stock market listing.

TKMS CEO Oliver Burkhard called the move a “significant step” for Germany’s maritime defence, enabling greater financing options and supporting its development as an independent systems house. The IPO aims to secure key naval technology within Germany and strengthen TKMS’s role in European security.

The decision marks progress after years of stalled sale attempts, positioning TKMS for strategic growth in the global maritime defence sector.

CSG Buys 9.2% Stake in Alzchem

Czech industrial group CSG has acquired a 9.2% stake in Bavarian specialty chemicals maker Alzchem Group AG, boosting its role in strategic raw materials like cellulose nitrate, used in 155mm artillery propellants.

The move follows CSG’s May 2025 purchase of a German cellulose nitrate facility and strengthens its ties to German industry while supporting NATO’s defence supply chain.
