Germany & Netherlands order 222 Schakal IFVs

OCCAR placed a €3.41bn order with Artec for 222 Schakal IFVs 150 for Germany, 72 for the Netherlands combining the Boxer 8×8 with the Puma turret (30mm MK30-2/ABM).

Package includes spares/training/tools and options for protection and counter-UAS, up to 248 more vehicles are optional. Schakal will equip the Bundeswehr’s new Medium Forces.

Germany to invest €10bn in drones trials fast-track cUAV buys

Berlin will spend €10bn on drones for strike and defence, said Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.

To accelerate delivery, the Bundeswehr is running a soldier-in-the-loop testbed at Bergen (20–24 Oct 2025) via the Cyber & Innovation Hub, starting with interceptor/cUAV systems.

Firms test with troops, get instant feedback, and advance promising kit aiming to beat slow procurement cycles against rising UAV threats.

Germany orders €3bn Luchs 2 recon fleet

BAAINBw has awarded GDELS a €3bn contract for 274 Luchs 2 vehicles Piranha V 6×6, amphibious to replace Fennek and uplift Army Reconnaissance Force capability. Package includes training, simulators and logistics.

Highlights, networked ISR (incl. D-LBO), modular ballistic/mine protection, smoke launchers, 25 mm cannon for self-defence, high off-road mobility. Designed for vehicle-based ISR on the transparent battlefield where unmanned systems have limits.

RENK lands €70m+ K2PL gearbox deal inks Ukraine support

RENK will supply HSWL 295 transmissions for Poland’s locally built K2PL tanks (production in Augsburg) under a €70m+ order and has signed a service support pact with Ukraine for vehicle drivetrain maintenance expanding its role in Central & Eastern European armoured modernisation.

Latvia becomes first customer for DND’s Skorpion 2 mine-laying system

Latvia has signed a €50m contract with Dynamit Nobel Defence (DND) for the Skorpion 2 modular mine-laying system, its ammunition and AT2+ anti-tank mines, plus training.

Mounted via palletised launcher canisters (four per vehicle in the Latvian setup), Skorpion 2 enables rapid, flexible obstacle creation to bolster the country’s eastern border against Russian threats.

The AT2+ mines feature upgraded electronics and multi-sensor suites for improved target discrimination and clearance resistance.

TKMS lists in Frankfurt after thyssenkrupp spin-off

TKMS AG & Co. KGaA began trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, completing its separation from thyssenkrupp, 49% of TKMS shares were distributed pro-rata to thyssenkrupp shareholders.

The integrated maritime-defence group (submarines, surface ships, unmanned systems, electronics, and C2 software) reports a record €18.6bn backlog and targets 10% medium-term revenue growth with 7% adjusted EBIT margin.

TKMS says independence increases agility to support NATO maritime modernisation while thyssenkrupp remains an anchor shareholder.

Diehl–Hanwha IRIS-T SL radar MoU

Diehl Defence and Hanwha have agreed to assess integrating Hanwha’s SAM radar with Diehl’s IRIS-T SL ground-based air defence, targeting South Korea as a potential customer and a broader strategic partnership.

IRIS-T SL’s modular architecture has already accommodated third-party radars and carriers:

IRIS-T SLS,12 km range, 6–8 km ceiling; Sweden as launch customer (first delivery 2019).

IRIS-T SLM, 40 km range, 20 km ceiling; fielded by 11 countries (incl. Germany) and combat-proven in Ukraine after initial Egyptian orders were reallocated.

Germany orders up to 200 TAHR vehicles for KSK

The Bundeswehr signed a framework deal with Flensburg Technology Systems for up to 200 TAHR light airborne 4×4s, with deliveries by end-2028. The 3.2-ton platform already fielded will be supported from Flensburg and offered to export customers.

Two variants, EGF (modular combat/ops) and UstgFzg (airborne support/transport).

Rohde & Schwarz TRUMPF team on laser cUAS system

Rohde & Schwarz and TRUMPF have formed a strategic partnership to build a German-made counter-drone solution pairing a new R&S radar (in development) with TRUMPF high-energy lasers.

The shelter-based system will fuse active/passive sensors for short-range detection, precision tracking and laser defeat of small, low-cost UAS.

R&S brings cUAS experience (e.g., Ardronis), while TRUMPF contributes laser hardware, beam control and a largely domestic supply chain, targeting military and critical-infrastructure protection.

Quantum Systems acquires Spleenlab

Quantum Systems has bought Spleenlab GmbH, integrating its VISIONAIRY edge-AI suite to boost autonomous capabilities across air, land, and sea platforms.

Spleenlab’s tech GPS-denied navigation, multi-object detection, coordinated multi-platform autonomy already flies on Quantum systems for the German MoD.

The team joins Quantum’s AI Centre of Excellence, tripling software/AI headcount while retaining operations in Thuringia/Jena.
