Diehl Defence and POLARIS signed a deal at the Paris Air Show to integrate the IRIS-T missile onto POLARIS’ unmanned aerial systems.
The new AirLAS system offers extended range, reusable platforms, and multi-domain deployment, with flight tests planned this year.
Rheinmetall Debuts SSW40 Auto Grenade Launcher
Rheinmetall has debuted the SSW40, the world’s first magazine-fed, shoulder-fired automatic 40mm grenade launcher. Designed for the Bundeswehr, it bridges the 400–1,000m range gap with multiple ammo types, including HE, anti-tank, and airburst.
Weighing 4kg and semi-auto by default, it supports rapid reloads, IR sights, and can be mounted for full-auto fire. With new medium-velocity rounds, it reaches up to 900m. Production starts this year, with a NATO customer confirmed and a Bundeswehr order expected.
