MBDA has unveiled its RCM² remote carrier system at the Paris Air Show, a modular, AI-enabled strike drone for air, land, and sea platforms. Designed for electronic warfare, reconnaissance, and precision strikes, RCM² supports swarm tactics and long-range missions over 300 km with a 90 kg payload.
Ground trials begin soon, with full capability expected by 2028.
Rheinmetall, Anduril Partner on European Drone Systems
Rheinmetall and Anduril have partnered to co-develop modular autonomous systems for European defence. The deal integrates Anduril’s Barracuda and Fury drones into Rheinmetall’s Battle suite platform, with joint European production and sovereign supply chains.
The collaboration also explores solid rocket motor development and emphasizes rapid, scalable deployment aligned with NATO needs. It builds on earlier joint work in counter-UAS and the U.S. Army’s OMFV program.
Thales & Boreal Launch MTO-LP1 Loitering Munition

FN Herstal Cuts .50 Cal System Weight by 40%
FN Herstal has unveiled a lightweight .50 Cal Crew-Served Weapon System at the 2025 Paris Air Show, reducing weight from 100 kg to 55 kg using composite materials. The system maintains full performance while enabling helicopters to carry more fuel or ammo. Now production-ready, it meets MIL-STD-810G and 20G crash standards and integrates easily via the FN MDP TURNING mount.

German startup ERC System unveiled its electric VTOL aircraft, designed for casualty evacuation and cargo transport. The platform carries 500 kg, has a 200 km range, and reaches 220 km/h. Featuring 8+2 rotors, it’s aimed at both military and civilian use. An autonomous version is planned before 2030, with full production by 2029.
Thales Debuts Dual-Use Radar for Shared Airspace
At the Paris Air Show, Thales unveiled the RSM NG/IFF, a 3-in-1 radar combining NATO Mode 5, ICAO Mode S, and ADS-B for seamless civil-military airspace management.

Paris Air Show: Germany’s NH90 Sea Tiger Adds Rocket Launcher
Germany’s NH90 Sea Tiger, on display in Paris, now features a six-tube 70 mm rocket launcher alongside its existing MU90 torpedoes and MARTE-ER missiles. This boosts its ASW and ASuW roles. The first of 31 helicopters will soon begin operational testing with the German Navy.
Paris Air Show: Embraer Unveils A-29N Super Tucano
Embraer showcased its A-29N Super Tucano at the 2025 Paris Air Show, with Portugal confirmed as the launch customer. Deliveries begin this year, and several European special forces are reportedly interested. The light attack aircraft, used by U.S. Special Forces, supports COIN, CAS, and training missions.

Dassault Debuts Stealth Drone as Rafale F5 Wingman
At the Paris Air Show, Dassault revealed its next-gen stealth UCAS drone, based on the nEUROn concept, to fly alongside the Rafale F5. Designed for air dominance, strike, and electronic warfare, the hyper-stealth drone will enter French service by 2032.
It supports France’s nuclear and deep-strike capabilities while serving as a potential interim alternative to the delayed FCAS program.
Leonardo & Baykar Launch Joint UAV Venture at Paris Air Show
Leonardo and Baykar have formed LBA Systems, a new Italy-based joint venture unveiled at the Paris Air Show 2025. The company will combine Baykar’s UAV platforms, such as the Akıncı and TB3, with Leonardo’s advanced European-certified payloads including radar, EO/IR sensors, and EW systems.
LBA Systems aims to offer modular, scalable drones for European and global markets, with production set to begin in 2026. Initial displays include mock-ups of the TB3 and Akıncı. The venture could also pave the way for integrating Baykar’s Kızılelma combat drone into the GCAP sixth-gen fighter program.
Anduril Debuts FURY UCAV at Paris Air Show
At Paris Air Show 2025, Anduril unveiled its YFQ-44 FURY UCAV for the first time in Europe. Built for the U.S. Air Force’s CCA program, the autonomous Group 5 drone supports manned-unmanned teaming with F-22s and F-35s.
Compact and affordable, FURY reaches Mach 0.95, carries two AMRAAMs, and operates up to 15,200 m. Flight tests begin summer 2025.
Elbit Unveils Advanced Missile Warning System at Paris Air Show
At the 2025 Paris Air Show, Elbit Systems unveiled its new PAWS-2 High Resolution (HR) Missile Warning System, designed to protect aircraft from modern missile threats. The passive infrared system detects surface-to-air missiles, air-to-air missiles, and MANPADS using a cooled mid-wave IR sensor with over 5MP resolution.
Key features include long-range detection, high threat classification accuracy, and minimal false alarms. MBDA Launches Fulgur VSHORAD Missile for Italy
At the Paris Air Show, MBDA signed a deal with Italy to develop the Fulgur VSHORAD missile-a portable, fire-and-forget supersonic interceptor for drones, helicopters, and jets. Deliveries start in 2028.
Fulgur will integrate with MBDA’s Sky Warden system and be deployable on vehicles and helicopters, strengthening NATO-aligned, multi-layer air defence.
Thales Warns of Aviation Cyber Threat Surge at Paris Air Show
Thales reports a 600% rise in cyberattacks on the aviation sector from Jan 2024 to Apr 2025, citing 27 major incidents by 22 ransomware groups. Attacks now target airlines, airports, supply chains, and sensitive data, blending espionage with operational disruption.
In response, Thales is investing €55M to expand secure navigation system production in France, including anti-jamming GNSS tech and inertial navigation systems. Backed by France’s DGA, the upgrades aim to safeguard civil and military aviation amid escalating digital threats.

Nammo has unveiled a 155mm ramjet-powered artillery shell at the Paris Air Show 2025, capable of precision strikes up to 150 km. Compatible with NATO-standard barrels, the shell uses a post-launch ramjet for supersonic flight and high accuracy.
It leads Nammo’s push to extend artillery range, alongside its 70–85 km HE-LR and 40+ km HE-ER projectiles.
EDGE, Thales to Localise Optronics Support in UAE
EDGE and Thales have signed an MoU at the 2025 Paris Air Show to localise maintenance of Thales’ electro-optic systems in the UAE.
The partnership will enable in-country support for SOPHIE thermal imagers, XTRAIM sights, and vehicular optronics, boosting the UAE’s defence self-sufficiency and operational readiness.
Quantum & Airbus Link Drones to Combat Cloud
Quantum Systems and Airbus have partnered to integrate Quantum’s MOSAIC UXS platform with Airbus’ Combat Cloud, creating a sovereign, AI-enabled drone ecosystem.
The system enables multi-domain control of unmanned platforms with open architecture, ensuring interoperability and European tech sovereignty.
Thales to Equip A400M with Secure Cockpit SATCOM
Thales will supply its AVIATOR 700S secure SATCOM system for the Airbus A400M, enhancing cockpit communications and CNS capabilities.
The deal, announced at the Paris Air Show, expands Thales’ role in the program and follows its acquisition of Cobham Aerospace Communications.
The system improves mission efficiency, reduces pilot workload, and supports data transfer for crew and passengers.
